The idea for the lamp’s shape came when the designer was restoring an old 1960’s radio at home. While searching for spare parts for the radio, he was captivated by the glow that emits from the tube amplifier. The simple oval shape and the glow of the lamp is an obvious reference to this, just as the name Amp refers to the English term; tube amplifier. The proportions for each lamp have been carefully designed to ensure just the right balance between hard & soft and transparent & opaque.
\nThe Amp lamps are characterised by their classic but high-quality materials: glass and brass. They are made of two different parts, the glass shade emits a soft light and the brass creates a beautiful contrast. These add a visual fragility and sensuous heaviness to the design.
