Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, established in 1958 in Denmark, has housed exhibitions with some of the most renowned international artists, presenting an exhibition programme that has resonated strongly with the public for over 6 decades. The Louisiana Poster Collection is recognized among art enthusiasts worldwide and grace the walls in homes across the globe. It highlights artwork by a wide range of artists, designers and architects that have been presented at the museum and reproduces pieces that are part of its vast and ever-growing Louisiana Collection.
This is a poster featuring the work Untitled (1930), by Danish artist Franciska Clausen (1899–1985). As one of the artists who helped introduce Constructivism to Denmark in the 1930s, Clausen’s work reflects the movement’s geometric and rational approach to art. The work became part of Louisiana’s collection through a generous donation of Constructivist art from the American McCrory Collection.
Constructivism sought to create a new visual language based on geometry, objectivity, and functionality, distancing itself from traditional depictions of the visible and the emotional. In Untitled, Clausen explores this distinctive artistic language, reflecting the movement’s ambition to create a new reality through abstraction and to break away from established artistic conventions.
