Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, established in 1958 in Denmark, has housed exhibitions with some of the most renowned international artists, presenting an exhibition programme that has resonated strongly with the public for over 6 decades. The Louisiana Poster Collection is recognized among art enthusiasts worldwide and grace the walls in homes across the globe. It highlights artwork by a wide range of artists, designers and architects that have been presented at the museum and reproduces pieces that are part of its vast and ever-growing Louisiana Collection.
This is a exhibition poster featuring the work Vinter (Winter) (1985), by Danish artist Per Kirkeby (1938–2018), created in connection with his exhibition at Louisiana in 2008–2009. Kirkeby’s works constitute one of the focal points of Louisiana’s collection, and the exhibition offered a retrospective encounter with the many artistic genres he explored throughout his career.
With a background in geology and as a central member of the Danish artist group Eks-skolen, Kirkeby developed an exceptionally diverse practice spanning painting, sculpture, graphics, architecture, film, writing, poetry, and scenography. Winter offers a glimpse into the broad and deeply exploratory artistic world of one of Denmark’s most internationally recognized artists.
