Originally designed in the late 1950s and early 1960s, this chair became a staple of Dutch schools and public buildings due to its legendary durability and minimalist aesthetic. Eschewing the traditional tubular steel of its era, Galvanitas pioneered the use of pressed sheet steel, resulting in a frame that is incredibly strong yet remarkably light. The seat and backrest are crafted from Pagholz, an indestructible composite material made from 20 layers of wood veneer impregnated with synthetic resin. This makes the chair not only scratch-resistant and easy to clean but also exceptionally comfortable, as the wood retains a natural flexibility.
