Tokusa refers to a vertical stripe pattern that has its roots in the Japanese word for the horsetail grass, a plant known for its skyward growth. The pattern has been long loved since the Edo period as a symbol of success and prosperity.
With Tokusa bowl you can easily burn your incense by placing one or various sticks in the marble sand. It will also be useful as a base when doing smudging rituals with sage or palo santo.
If the marble sand gets dirty, you can clean it soaking it in water and then filtering it with a fine mesh strainer.
